In 1967, the property caught the attention of businessman Bob Cashell, who recognized its potential and saw an opportunity to expand. In 1968, with this new vision in mind, Cashell officially reopened the property as Boomtown Reno, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its history.

Boomtown began to grow and attract more guests, and in 1988, the property changed hands when Cashell Enterprises sold Boomtown, Inc. to Hollywood Park, Inc., a company that would later become Pinnacle Entertainment. Pinnacle Entertainment’s ownership of Boomtown continued until 2012, when the property was sold to M1 Gaming and St. John Properties for $12.9 million. St. John Properties, a real estate firm based in Maryland, eventually took full ownership in 2014, guiding Boomtown through its next phase of development.
